In thinking as to what I could blog about, I figured that the best way to go with my theme of "randomness" would be to just write about things that I come across during the day - so here is my first post, and it's about something I'm eating right now: Kinder Schokolade.
I don't know how many people in America are missing out on this deliciousness, but it's just amazing how good this chocolate bar tastes. My first exposure to it was in Germany, and now I try to get it wherever I can - usually at local specialty shops that import some "fine European chocolates." I believe you can also get it online in some places.
This addictive chocolate treat is made by Ferrero, which are the same Italian people that make Ferrero Rocher (the golden chocolate/hazelnut balls), Nutella, and even (surprisingly) Tic Tacs.
Kinder Schokolade is unbelievably good, and I bet that it would outperform a lot of chocolates currently on the market in America, but for some reason it's not available here. According to the Wikipedia article about the choco bars, they are sold in over 45 countries, but are still a "rarity in the US." So whoever feels like it, jump on the bandwagon before it's too late and start importing these - call Ferrero today! And for a smaller project, any webdesigners should contact them about redoing their USA website, since it looks like a 5 year old made it back in 1996.
Believe me when I say that this chocolate is worth a try - even if you have to pay for shipping somewhere online. It must be good if a change in packaging (a new image with a more "modern" boy on it) set of a protest movement in Germany that caused sales to dip 25% in 2005.
So give it a try. Through a quick search, it looks like Amazon even has it, although with ridiculously high shipping - and there are some rando shops as well that carry it.
And it looks like other people are also altruistically longing for others in the US to enjoy the pleasure and happiness that results from consuming one of these Kinder Schokolade bars. I found this video on YouTube where a guy likewise tries to spread the knowledge about this secret treat. Just to make clear: this is NOT me. It's just a video I found randomly.
